One Savory:
Pepperoni Pizza Gameday Sliders
I've made this for the Super Bowl a few years now.
So I wanted to give you a super easy delicious recipe to make for the 4th of July this year!
"I've tried making homemade sauces before but they always taste like diet food. Like I can immediately tell it's 'healthy' and not in a good way. What's your secret?"
Answer: This is a great question because sauces are everything.
A good sauce can make a boring meal incredible.
A bad sauce can ruin the whole thing.
So here's the secret...
Greek yogurt + cottage cheese.
I know, I know. Stay with me here 😅
That combo mimics a mayo, a crema, an indulgent creamy sauce.
And here's the thing... you won't taste either of them (I promise lol).
Why?Because those two ingredients are there for the TEXTURE.
The rest of your ingredients (spices, hot sauce, garlic, whatever vibe you're going for) handle the FLAVOR.
When you're making them, I recommend blending for 60-90 seconds (aka longer than you think you need to).
This makes sure the cottage cheese is fully blended and you get a smooth, creamy texture with no weird chunks.
And if you REALLY want to take your sauces to the next level?Roast your garlic.
I know it sounds extra. But roasting a few garlic bulbs at 400°F for 40-50 minutes gives you this rich, caramelized garlic flavor that's completely different from raw garlic.
Trust me, do it once and you'll never go back.
And becuase I always get asked, I store my sauces in deli containers.
They're cheap, stackable, and I use them for literally everything.
Your sauces will last about 5-7 days in the fridge.
For me personally, I've pushed it to 7-10 days and been totally fine... but don't hold me liable on that one 😅
And if you want more sauces, I have 13 others inside The FDL App.
Weird Food Fact 🤓
It’s a warm summer morning.
You’re outside, coffee in hand, half awake… and you see a lazy little bee floating around your yard.
Just vibing.
Bumping from flower to flower like it has absolutely zero responsibilities.
Your first thought might be:
“Must be nice. This guy’s just sightseeing all day.”
Except… this bee is working harder than all of us combined.
Because here’s the wild part.
To make one single pound of honey, honeybees have to visit about 2 million flowers.
Two. Million.
That’s not a typo.
That's roughly 55,000 miles total.
For reference, the earth’s circumference is about 25,000 miles.
So these tiny dudes basically fly around the world… twice… just so we can drizzle honey on Greek yogurt 🤣
Next time you casually stir honey into your oats, just know a whole squad of bees ran an ultramarathon for that spoonful.
Serving Surprise 😮
Look, I love Five Guys burgers. Not gonna pretend I don't.
But let's talk about what's actually happening when you order their cheeseburger (which is actually a double patty (their "little" cheeseburger is the single 🙃)).
Picture from their website.
Five Guys Cheeseburger: 980 calories, 40g carbs, 55g fat, 47g protein
My Double Cheeseburger: 425 calories, 20g carbs, 13g fat, 57g protein
Read that again.
HALF the calories. A QUARTER of the fat. And MORE protein.
For a nearly identical double cheeseburger experience.
That means you could eat TWO of my double cheeseburgers and still come in under the Five Guys macros.
Two. Whole. Burgers. 🍔🍔
And here's the thing...
I'm not saying never go to Five Guys.
I'm saying when you learn how to make macro-friendly versions at home, you get to eat MORE food, hit your protein goals, and save your Five Guys trips for when it actually matters.
